Thomas was born 2nd July 1837 Contin Ross shire Scotland.
His parents were Alexander Munro and mother Christian McKenzie. They were married in Contin Ross-shire on 19 May 1820 and had a family of 10 - Thomas was the youngest child.
His siblings all born Contin were - Roderick born 29 March 1821, Isabel born 21 May 1822 died before 1823, Isabel born 5 May 1823 died 11 November 1879, Donald born 14 February 1825,James born 20 October 1826, John born 20 September 1828,Janet (Jessie) born 7 March 1831, Ann born 14 April 1833, Alexander born 3 April 1835 & Thomas born 2 July 1837.
He was educated at Dingwall School. Leaving school after passing every form, he was apprenticed to the drapery business and served three years in Scotland and another three years in London.
Hearing the glowing accounts of the "goldfields" at Bendigo, Ballarat Victoria Australia, he left the Old Country in 1856 with brother Alexander.
We have made contact with a descendant of Roderick Munro here in New Zealand and a descendant of Donald in Canada.
